Rockets Roasted BBQ

wpid-20130711_194519.jpg

Every once in a while you stumble upon a pizza that is really note worthy, and the Rockets Roasted BBQ pizza from Chet & Matt’s Pizza is just such a pizza.

The menu describes it as:

Really great BBQ chicken and Chet & Matt’s cheese blend. Optional items: red onions

What it fails to mention is that it’s shredded chicken, not the normal chunks, and that it uses Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce.  I don’t know about you, but Sweet Baby Ray’s is one damned good BBQ!

Though the menu says the red onions are “optional” I say otherwise.  They are such an amazing addition to the overall flavor that they should be considered mandatory.

Lunch Buffet Gluttony

wpid-20140620_115547.jpgThough not quite a tradition, hitting the buffet at Quaker Steak & Lube on payday seems to be becoming a habit.  It helps that payday always falls on a Friday and tasty treats abound on their Friday buffet. This Friday I combined some offerings to create this Double Cheeseburger with nacho cheese and BBQ sauce.  The breaded boneless wings are very good and somehow they manage to have fresh fries on a buffet. wpid-20140530_122803.jpg They also have high quality all beef wieners and other flavors of wings.  I found the wieners are incredible when sliced lengthwise, filled with nacho cheese and topped with banana pepper rings, but also quite good simply topped with ketchup and mustard.

Father’s Day 2014

While I am far from being a fan of petty holidays such as Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Sweetest’s Day or even Columbus Day, I must admit that my I had fun with my 13 year old son today.  By the grace of fluke luck Father’s Day fell on my weekend with him this year, so we made a weekend event out of being bums, eating out, ordering in, video games and going to the movies.

Of special note was his choice to “take me” to Moe’s Southwest Grill before the movie today.  I love Moe’s and though some may argue consider it vastly superior to Chipotle or even Qdoba.  To each their own, but Moe’s hits the spot for me.

Now Tex/Mex is not typically found on a baconcentric blog, but Moe’s has bacon.  Yes, that’s right, bacon.  And this drove me to the pictured concoction.  I like to call it the Chicken Philly Stack w/Bacon, but you can call it what you want.  It contains chicken, seasoned rice, sauteed green peppers, mushrooms and onions, cheese, sour cream, queso, cheese and bacon.  When you ask for bacon they point out that it costs extra.  When I point out that bacon is worth it they proceed to dump a fist full of bacony goodness into my Stack.

The Stack is a Moe’s specialty and I like to think I was part of having this limited time treat added to the regular menu.  You had best rely on Moe’s to describe though as my definition of “Quesedila double taco burrito stuffed with goodness” has much to be desired.

It’s a Wing Thing

wpid-20130626_192329.jpg

Only in America do the chicken have fingers and the buffalo have wings. And when talking Buffalo Wings, Chet & Matt’s Pizza serves up some seriously good ones. Big wings, full of meat and in a variety of flavors including the above pictured Hot Garlic Parmesan or the huge BBQ wings below.
